Just getting started with Early Intervention (EI) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)? This training will walk you through the basics. You will learn what EI and ECSE are, how eligibility is determined, and what to expect along the way. We will talk about how young children learn through everyday routines and play, and how you can support your child’s learning at home using the things they already love. You will also get a clear picture of the IFSP, the plan that guides your child’s services, and your important role in creating it. You know your child best, and your voice matters. Educators, providers, and community members are also welcome to attend.
Parents have a vital role as their child's expert, advocate, and visionary. This training will increase their understanding of why special education exists and what Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) means under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This session will also cover how young children learn through everyday routines and natural environments.
