Empowering Youth with Disabilities to Manage Money

This 6-session virtual training series helps youth and young adults with disabilities and their families learn how to manage money and make smart choices. We encourage young people (14+) and their families to attend together.

We will discuss:

  • Why it's important for youth with disabilities to make their own decisions about money.

  • How to prioritize needs over wants and plan for your future.

  • Common income sources for people with disabilities like SSI/SSDI and ABLE.

  • Where to store and grow your money and access it easily.

  • Ways to keep your money safe.

  • How to make a SMART financial goal and plan.

  • How to create a budget and track spending.

  • What credit, borrowing, and debt mean and how to use credit wisely.

  • Where to get more help.

FREE for young people ages 14+ and families (Youth must attend)

Amy Geoffroy is our lead presenter for this series. A mom to a young adult with Down syndrome and FACT’s Director of Communications and Impact, Amy is passionate about helping young people with disabilities learn and use skills that help them take control of their lives.

The series is also supported by FACT's Molly Cermak, Support Supervisor, and Karen Trombley, Support Specialist, both of whom are also parents of youth with disabilities. Special guests from the Oregon ABLE Savings Plan and OnPoint Community Credit Union will also join.
