FACT Oregon’s Board of Directors provides governance, oversight, and strategic leadership. The board is responsible for upholding FACT’s mission, guiding its long-term direction, supporting strong financial stewardship, and ensuring the organization remains accountable to the families and communities we serve.

Our Mission, Vision, and Work

FACT Oregon empowers families, youth, and communities to navigate disability systems, advocating together for disability justice and policy change so that people with disabilities have what they need to thrive at home, in school, and in their communities. FACT Oregon works toward a future in which communities are accessible and inclusive and where the self-determination of people with disabilities is assured.

Peer-delivered services are free for families and include 1:1 support, trainings, resources, parent leadership development, and advocacy. We are Oregon’s statewide Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) for Special Education and a member of the Oregon Consortium of Family Networks, serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families

Ways Board Members Contribute

Board service at FACT is different from volunteering, advising, or helping with daily operations. It is active leadership. Families across Oregon rely on FACT for accurate information, meaningful advocacy, and trusted leadership. Our board members help make that possible. Showing up as a board member means:

  • Protecting the mission of FACT.

  • Safeguarding public trust in FACT.

  • Ensuring FACT’s financial sustainability.

  • Supporting strong leadership.

  • Representing FACT with integrity.

  • Honoring collective decision-making.

What Board Service Looks Like

Board members are expected to:

  • Serve a three (3)-year term, with the opportunity to serve up to two (2) additional terms.

  • Prepare for and actively participate in monthly board meetings and occasional special meetings,

  • Prepare for and participate in at least one committee or advisory group.

  • Make an annual financial contribution at a level meaningful to them.

  • Actively support FACT’s resource development, including fundraising.
