The FACT Family Center

The FACT Family Center is a family support and information center that serves families of children from birth to age 21 years, who experience a developmental disability in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties.

The purpose of the FACT Family Center is to provide general resource and disability-specific information, referral assistance, family-to-family networking opportunities, and training opportunities for families. We know that each time we meet a family will be unique. Most of our interactions will typically include one or more of the following:

  • Providing information
  • Conducting training
  • Facilitating family-to-family connection

Appreciating the capacity, strength, empowerment, and tenacity of families, the FACT Family Center is committed to providing services and support developed “by families for families.”

Welcome

Welcome to FACT!  We are glad you connected with us! 

You might be the parent who has recently learned that your child experiences disability, working to get your arms around a new diagnosis; you might be the parent of someone preparing for adulthood, or, of course, anywhere in between.  We all share something in common in that we are raising a child who experiences disability.   Often, families feel isolated and as if they are on this journey all alone. FACT wants to make sure you know that you are not alone!  FACT is dedicated to empowering Oregon families experiencing disability.

We offer peer delivered family support, dedicated to having our programming be by families for families.  We promote connecting with other families- at trainings, events, support groups, list serves, blogs, etc.  Get to know one another!  You may very well be the resource another family is looking for and another family might very well be a resource to you!  Subscribe to the Connections E-news to receive our newsletter and announcements of upcoming events and like us on Facebook!  We are looking forward to connecting with you!

State Representative Sara Gelser will be conducting a forum on

High School Diplomas and Transition Programs for 18-21 year olds!

Tuesday, May 29, 2012 – 6:30pm

Do you have questions about High School Diploma Options or Transition Services for Students 18 – 21 and the impact of HB 2283?  We encourage you to attend a forum with Representative Sara Gelser to understand what the law says, what it means for students, and what parents, educators, and advocates need to know to ensure students have the opportunity to pursue rigorous diploma options and access to essential transition services.
