FACT Oregon is involved in numerous events throughout the year that help raise awareness in the community about families experiencing disabilities. Events include parent and community trainings, resource fairs, sporting events, seasonal festivities and much more! Day-of-event activities range from staffing tables, registration, event venue support and answering questions. Volunteers get the flexibility to select which events are of interest to them.
Office Support: We seek flexible, patient, friendly individuals with close attention to detail to volunteer on weekdays in our main office, 2475 SE Ladd Ave, Ste 430 in Portland. Duties may include answering phone calls from parents/caregivers who need support (intake only, in-depth support is provided only by our trained Family Support Specialists), data entry, office organization tasks, and some special event support. Bilingual speakers encouraged to apply!
Trainings Volunteer: Assists FACT Oregon’s staff by readying the training venue, room set up, registration, handouts, answering basic questions, and clean up. The time commitment at each training session is approximately 2-4 hours.
Resource Fair Volunteer: Assists FACT Oregon’s staff with the setup and tear down of the FACT Oregon table at the resource fair and utilizes provided marketing materials. Volunteer assists staff in answering questions, signing up individuals for the newsletter, referring to the FACT Oregon Support Line, and providing information about the resources that FACT provides families in the community. The time commitment at each resource fair ranges from 2-8 hours.
Regional Learning Summit Volunteer: We bring day-long trainings to several locations throughout the state each year, usually on Saturdays. Volunteers may help with set-up and take-down, lunch, and helping individual trainers in their sessions with attendance and evaluations. Planning to attend an RLS as a parent? You’d be an excellent room monitor, and we can help assign you to the sessions you plan to attend. RLS’s are 8 hours long; volunteers can take full or half-day assignments.
Special Event Volunteer: Assists FACT Oregon’s staff with set up and tear down of the event – which could include decorating, set up/break down table and chairs, or readying the venue for activities. The volunteer might assist with registration and help assist families with activities during the event. The time commitment at each event is approximately 3-6 hours. For our big special events such as the All Ability Tri4Youth, volunteers will be given time slots and specific job descriptions.
