March with FACT Oregon: News and Resources
|
|
Dear FACT Oregon Community, March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month—a time to celebrate and lift up self-advocacy and ensure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) have the supports they need to lead a good life. At FACT Oregon, we’re proud to partner with coalitions and community leaders across the state who are laser focused on this work. This month, we’re highlighting tools for families and youth self-advocates, updates about DD services, and ways to make your voice heard about the issues that are important to you. Plus, upcoming trainings - including our 2026 Special Education Virtual Conference on April 4 - and expanded self-paced courses available in multiple languages. Join us to learn, connect, and act this March—and beyond. In community, Christy Reese Executive Director, FACT Oregon

Did you know? Each year, the Oregon Department of Education requires selected districts to conduct a family survey about special education services. This spring, you may get a secure text message or letter with a survey link from your district. Please take the time to complete the survey. This information helps ODE make special education services better.
Join In! The IDD community stood strong this month at the DD Legislative Advocacy Go! Day and testified against a bill we believe would result in the exclusion of many students with disabilities from classrooms and from progressing with age peers. Our voices were heard, and SB 1572 did not move forward! Read the update.
Sign up for the Go! Project Bulletin for action alerts about issues important to the I/DD community. Calling Families of Kids 0-8: If your child is currently aged 8 or younger and received EI (0-3) or ECSE (3-5) services in Oregon, we invite you to complete a short survey that helps us understand family perspectives. The survey takes about 15 minutes. Take our Survey
