It’s a new day in Oregon! In September 2012, Family and Community Together (FACT) was awarded the contract to be Oregon’s new Parent Training and Information Center (PTI).
The FACT PTI provides parent training, including IEP education for parents of children with special needs, and utilizes FACT’s existing philosophy, infrastructure, experience, collaborative partnerships, and strong statewide community connections to provide families with necessary support as they pursue the hopes and dreams they have for their children experiencing disabilities.
Likewise, FACT PTI’s programming is peer-delivered, and includes training, information, and parent-to-parent support aimed at families with a child or young adult experiencing disability throughout the state of Oregon.
This project is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act [IDEA]. FACT PTI programming is by families for families, and prides itself on being responsive to their training and information needs.
Our educational services are centered on helping families become their child’s number one fan and advocate, helping them participate fully on their child’s IEP team, and successfully create goals that provide their child or youth with a free appropriate public education [FAPE].
