Sonya Fischer named DHS Director of State and Federal Legislative Affairs

Sonya Fischer has been named Director of State and Federal Legislative Affairs of the Department of Human Services. She replaces Patty O'Sullivan who is retiring from state government after 33 years.
Congratulations to FACT Board member, Sonya Fischer, who has been named Director of State and Federal Legislative Affairs of the Department of Human Services (DHS). A lawyer in private practice, Fischer focuses on Juvenile and Family Law as well as Special Education. She has an extensive work and volunteer background in lobbying and advocating for a wide variety of issues including people with disabilities, employment issues, human service policy, domestic violence, early childhood and homeless youth.
She was a former services coordinator in Multnomah County, worked as a Legislative Assistant for the late Senator Frank Shields as well as Representative Sharon Wylie, and, as a lobbyist for the Tressider Company. With the many duties associated with her new position, Fischer will be stepping down from her position on the FACT Board.
