The budget projections are grim and there will be cuts! Community Forums have been held throughout Oregon over the past few weeks to discuss DHS/OHA budget and funding priorities; however the number of participants speaking on behalf of DD services was minimal. It is essential that DHS / OHA leadership hear about the importance of the services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Talking points have been developed by the DD Coalition Share your story on why these services are important to you, your organization, or your family. If you have been unable to get services or have experienced changes or reductions in your services in the last few years, please include that information as well.
- Protect funding for Services for People with Developmental Disabilities across the lifespan from children to adults.
- Protect access to Adult Support Services for adults with developmental disabilities.
- Memorandum of Understanding Needed between DHS and OHA.
- Continue to Utilize the Fairview Housing Trust for its Intended Purposes towards fulfilling community-based living for hundreds of Oregonians with developmental disabilities annually.
The time is now to send comments and share why services benefit you and your community! Send them to dhs.oha@dhs.state.or.us
