Eastern Oregon Training Center—last person leaves

As of October 27, 2009, the last person living at the Eastern Oregon Training Center in Pendleton moved out! Oregon became only one of two states that does not have an ICF/MR.

Oregon became only one of two states, the other being Alaska, that does not have an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded or ICF/MR. Eastern Oregon Training Center (EOTC) had been approaching closure for a number of years. The process being a long and sometimes rocky struggle. This year Oregon legislators directed that EOTC’s 40 residents move to smaller neighborhood group housing by the end of October. As of Tuesday, October 27, 2009, the last person moved out.
