What is person centered planning? It is a tool that assists people with disabilities (whether children or adults) and their families to create a snapshot of the person and possibilities for the person’s future, focusing on the person’s strengths and preferences.
For the young child, person centered plans can be used to figure out goals and supports as well as influence the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Debra McLean facilitated day-long person centered planning workshops in various locations in the Portland Metro. Debra has been working in the field of developmental disabilities for over 26 years. She consults with individuals, families, adult support services brokerage agencies, and schools on topics of person-centered planning, natural supports, development of resources, systems change and employment. She has presented both nationally and in Australia, and currently works with the Oregon Technical Assistance Corporation (OTAC) and is a consultant with Asai & Associates.
