Modified Diploma and Extended Diploma
In the past, the awarding of a diploma document to students with disabilities for their educational accomplishments has been variable across the state of Oregon. During the 2007 Legislative session HB 2848 Modified Diploma bill was passed. The bill created a statewide modified diploma and requires school districts to allow students who receive modified diplomas and alternative certificates to participate in graduation ceremonies. Initially adopted on May 16, 2008, the final rule for the Modified Diploma OAR 581-022-1134 was adopted by the State Board of Education on December 4, 2009. The final rules for the Extended Diploma OAR 581-022-1133 and Alternative Certificate OAR 581-022-1135 were also adopted by the State Board of Education on December 4, 2009.
