Medicaid Waiver for Medically-Involved Children

HB 2406 passed the Oregon legislature and was publicly signed by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski on July 12, 2007!

Oregon families caring for medically involved children receive very little, if any, support or assistance. The passage of HB 2406 creates a Medicaid waiver in-home support program for children who require significant levels of medical support. It directs the Department of Human Services (DHS) to apply for a Medicaid waiver irrespective of parental income. Services may include home nursing care, durable medical equipment, and respite care.

Currently, this Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) waiver is in place. As of mid-November 2008, 62 families have been enrolled into the program. Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) pertaining to the waiver can be found at Medically Involved Children's Program.
